The Western Ontario Community Futures Development Corporation Association (WOCFDCAare here to help you get a head start on making your dreams of owning and operating your own business a reality.

Our organization consists of several Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs), which are specific to location. These CFDCs offer a wide variety of resources, tools, and other services that are designed to promote growth among small business owners and ultimately, economic development in the communities they serve.


SOFII is a program designed to promote growth among small and medium-sized businesses in Southwestern Ontario.

    What is the WOCFDCA?

    The Western Ontario Community Futures Development Corporation Association is the association of CFDCs in Western Ontario.

    CFDCs offer a wide variety of programs and services supporting community economic development and small business growth.

    In particular, they provide: access to capital for small- and medium-sized businesses and social enterprises usually up to $150,000; and business information and planning services.

    These community-based, not-for-profit organizations are staffed by professionals and are each governed by local volunteer boards of directors familiar with their communities' needs, concerns and future development priorities.

    The SOFII program supports high-growth, innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in rural and urban communities by offering loans of $150,000 to $500,000 to support all aspects of growth challenges facing them.  Launched by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) in July 2012, the program offers $20-million through its Prosperity Initiative. The loans are intended to help finance:

    • Late stage commercialization;
    • New product or service development;
    • New applications or markets; or
    • Development or implementation of new processes or technologies.
